Dragging My Tail into 2008

Well, Happy New Year to everyone! It's a bright, crisp day here in the Heartland. A chilly 23 degrees this morning but sunny enough that we may see 28 by the time the day is over.

We still have snow on the ground in the front yard where the sun doesn't always reach. If we really wanted to build a snowman we probably could. But I really don't want to. Shh. Don't tell M.

We had a pretty fun New Year's Eve. M decided that we were going to have a sleepover in the living room. He dragged his tent and sleeping bag out. I got the sleeping bag. He had all kinds of fun things planned.

We watched "Night at the Museum" for the 43rd time. It's still pretty funny even after you've seen it a bunch of times. We also played chess, with house rules, of course. The basic rule is that M wins. At this point I'm still trying to teach him the correct moves for all the pieces, so I don't care that he wins. We also played dominoes (set them up, knock them down) and we read a bunch of comics (he has about 30 of them).

After watching the Ball drop in Times Square things calmed down a lot. I think he was finally asleep by midnight, when the firecrackers went off across the street. I was asleep around 1 am, but the fun started all over again around 7 when the little kid woke up. Where does he get his energy??

I did scrap a page that I haven't posted yet. It's a layout about our infamous photo shoot. {Family Photo Shoot}

The template is from Misty Cato. The paper is from ScrapKitchen. The elements are from somewhere, but I can't remember now where they came from. Gosh, my mind is going. I want to say Shabby Princess, but I am probably wrong.

After doing a little scrapping, I backed all my 2007 photos to the external hard drive and then started sorting through the scrap kits. Today I'll probably put them on the external hard drive as well.

I did get into my room for about 3 hours in the afternoon. Lesson plans for this week and next are written. Some of my copies are done. I have a pile for the volunteer who usually comes on Wednesday and Thursday. My desk is cleared off and the homework baskets are empty. I even rearranged the desks so we could start fresh for the new year. I'm as ready as I'm going to be so I'm going to practice my word of the year- acceptance.

Acceptance- I'm going to work on the things I can fix and not worry about the things I cannot change. I'm going to welcome change and accept things for what they are. And I will be thankful for the blessings that come my way.

I hope everyone has a wonderful new year and a great rest of the day.
